Hi everyone,
has anybody tried to advertise in the Blue Book with any results? Thanks. Patrice

Our area Blue Book offers a free listing (simple one-line listing with address and phone number), but we’ve never actually had a prospect admit that they found us there.
The Yellow Pages, as ineffectual as they are at generating new business, have actually generated some action over time, but not enough to justify the cost of the listing.
Word of mouth and personal referrals from existing clients are king for small companies that don’t have a sales force or large marketing budget.

I agree with Clem, regarding the Blue Book. We have had a free one-line listing for at least 20 years and have never gotten a job from it.
My experience with the Yellow Pages has been different. I ask all new clients where they heard about us. About 50% say that they got our name from the Yellow Pages. Our return on investment has justified the cost invested. Please be aware that a fair amount of them are price-shoppers, but anything that gets me in the door is an obstacle overcome. My geographic area is rural and may be the reason for the higher level of response. You need to define your niche in the market. A good sales person will be able to qualify the leads quickly.
Of course, word of mouth and reputation will always produce the best results. Good luck!
