As most of you know by now, John Mini passed away on June 21.  I thought it might be fitting to share memories we have of him on this forum.

When I first brought out our green certification program John had some serious concerns, to the point that he told me he thought I should pull it off the shelf.  The following year he came up to me at a conference and told me that he had been wrong, that it was indeed a good program. I told him he had some valid points and helped make the program stronger, which was 100 percent true.

He was never too important or too busy to stop and talk.  I'll miss him.

John was a major forward-thinker in our industry, and his success showed that a little corner of the green industry could, indeed, play in the major leagues.  He was a sometime competitor, and while I never met him, I have always had a great deal of respect for the work his organization does.  I hope there are similarly inspired and driven people in place to continue John's legacy, and I wish everyone at John Mini Distinctive Landscapes all the best going forward.

John was my first teacher, at the New York Botanical Garden School of Horticulture, as well as being my first boss when I got my first job in the industry with John Mini Indoor Landscapes.  He has always had a special place in my heart, and I'm sad to hear he's gone.
